My mom has been stressed with work lately and I want to surprise her with dinner when she comes home. I know how to make simple things, but I want to take a step up. Nothing overly complicated, and please no seafood!Dinner recipe for a beginner??

Food can always be simple as long as you can work the stove. I would suggest that you get some chicken breasts, one per person, remove the skin and then sprinkle them with salt, pepper, garlic and rosemary. Put them in a pan and cover with aluminum foil. Place in an oven that has been preheating at 350 for at least 10 minutes. Let them cook in there for about 35-45 minutes. You will know they are done when you stick them with a fork and no pink juice comes out. Get a side in a box or stop by the Boston Market for some sides. It can't get any easier than that...
I like making Chicken Fetticine Alfredo.. It's way easy! It takes about 20 mintues to make!
Start boiling a pot of water. (Tip- add a couple teaspoons of salt to water to quicken boiling time)
Take 2 full sized boneless skinless chicken breasts, and season them with salt, pepper, and garlic salt.
Put a little butter or olive oil in the pan and place chicken breasts into the pan, at medium heat.
Pan fry the chicken breasts, flipping the chicken approximately every 4 minutes.
The water should be boiling by this time, so add your noodles.. You can use fetticine noodles, or little bow tie pastas.
To check if they're done, the middle of the chicken breast should have clear juices when pierced with a knife. If the juices appear a cloudy pink then they'll need to cook longer.
Take two jars of Ragu Alfredo sauce, and empty into large pot or skillet on medium low heat. Take chicken out of pan and cut into bite size slices. Then place into pot of sauce.
Check the noodles. (Eat one) They should have an al dente texture, which means slightly crisp, and not soggy.
I add broccoli to this recipe as well.. I take the microwaveable vegetable steamers and pop it in the microwave. Then I add it to my pot and let it all simmer for about 10 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
I also serve five cheese texas toast with this! MMMMMM!
spaghetti and meatsauce with garlic bread and a nice tossed salad
1 jar of Classico Italian sauce
1 lb. ground beef (brown the meat in a deep skillet)
you can add extra garlic, oregano, basil, thyme etc
Add the drain meat to your sauce along with any extra seasoning.. Simmer
spaghetti noodles (i like the thin spaghetti)
1 loaf Italian bread spread with garlic butter
Parmesan cheese for topping the spaghetti
