I find these to be simple and quick.

Spaghetti, with garlic bread/toast and salad. Or lasagna.

Sloppy joes, potatoes, and a vegetable. We like a slice of cheese over our sloppy joes.

My recipe is simple easy and cheap(ish)

Buy some cheap fillets of fish - frozen are OK

Defrost during the day or by suspending in hot (not boiling) water inside a plastic bag.

Marinate in sweet chili sauce (add extra hot chili sauce if the sweet stuff is too sweet)for 1-2 hrs.

Heat BBQ plate til quite hot turn off gas under plate but leave other burner(s) on low. Fry in a little Olive or peanut oil with lid down for 4-5 mins one side then turn for 2-3 minutes on other.

Serve on bed of Jasmine rice (or any sort really).

Salt, pepper and a sprinkle of dill or coriander to individual taste.

Big bowl of green salad with rocket is a nice tart accompaniment.

Can also be served with microwaved beans/other greens.

Can also be cooked over stove or in frypan.

Please don't overcook the fish, you'll burn the sauce and it will taste like cardboard.

The male of the species can become very good at this sort of cooking with a little practice.
That's hard to answer without knowing what you like. Pizza made with a prepared crust and your favorite toppings is pretty easy, and everyone likes pizza. I make homemade ramen noodles with stock, frozen veggies and rice or buckwheat noodles-it's a quick light meal. Pasta using leftover or purchased chicken is quick-just add to your favorite canned sauce with some sauteed veggies if desired and cook your pasta.
You could go for an easy chicken meal:

Boneless chicken breast marinated in Italian dressing (put them in a bowl throw the dressing on and cover and put in fridge) you can leave them in there all day.

make a pasta and sauce of your choice to go with it....or

make baked potatoes and a veggie with them....always a nice dinner that dont cost much and easy to make.

More specifics would sure help.

For how many people? Meat or vegetarian? For a one-time date or as something to do regularly? Romantic or family? Any particular ingredients you'd tend towards?

Otherwise my answer is: Chinese takeout.
I usually check the Campbells website, a lot of their recipes are very simple, and I've yet to find one we don't like.
